FAQ for Life Energy Flow Tai Yi School of Healing

This FAQ is compiled based on key information from the Student Handbook (2019 edition), focusing on aspects relevant to new students. It covers the school’s purpose, student expectations, learning process, and important policies to help you prepare and understand what to expect.

Life Energy Flow Tai Yi (commonly referred to as Tai Yi) is an ancient hands-on healing modality originating from China, thousands of years old. It is described as the most powerful and versatile form of energy healing available. Tai Yi works with universal energy to create balance in one’s life and assist others. It was nearly lost due to political and social changes in China, including alterations to ancient writings.

The school was founded by Hossca Harrison. Its primary purpose is for Hossca to teach this ancient healing modality while keeping it pure and unaltered. The school aims to educate students on how energy works to foster personal balance and growth, enabling them to help others. Hossca studied under a Chinese Master (born 1896, passed 2009) from 1982 to 2009 and committed to preserving Tai Yi’s integrity. Any attempts to pollute or change Tai Yi exercises result in permanent expulsion.

Hossca Harrison is the primary teacher of Tai Yi, responsible for keeping it alive, pure, and powerful. His teacher, the Chinese Master, preserved the modality through turbulent historical periods. Hossca has designated Joseph Armeanio as his Primary Student, who is prepared to continue the teachings in the future. The school follows ancient Chinese customs where a teacher selects one primary student to maintain the lineage.

Mastering Tai Yi requires dedication across spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical aspects. The handbook outlines these seven key requirements:

  • Honor and respect the power, purpose, and precision of Tai Yi – Treat the modality with seriousness and avoid guessing during practice.
  • Learning and integrating the philosophy of Tai Yi – Understand the deeper principles behind the exercises.
  • Using spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical integrity with each treatment – Maintain honesty and wholeness in your work.
  • Make a commitment to practice Tai Yi exercises until they are perfect – Regular, focused practice is essential.
  • Learning to use Universal Energy versus your own energy – Draw from universal sources rather than personal reserves.
  • Make a commitment to maintain balance within your own reality – Ensure your personal life remains balanced.
  • Learn and maintain spiritual ethics as you assist others – Uphold ethical standards in healing work.

These requirements emphasize personal growth alongside technical skill.

The school prioritizes quality over quantity, so classes are not rushed. Treatments are taught in depth, including their philosophy and practical application. The process involves writing notes, discussions, and hands-on practice/demonstrations. It’s different from traditional Western education, which often focuses on memorization—here, understanding and integration are key. Students are given topics to research before classes for better preparation. Historical Tai Yi teaching was verbal and group-based, and this school maintains that approach.

Students must attend each class on time, prepared, rested, and focused. Bring notebooks, pens, and body charts. If you arrive late and miss part of an exercise (including its philosophy), you cannot copy it from others—it must be re-taught privately. The emphasis is on building a strong foundation through consistent, positive engagement with fellow students.

No. The school does not teach or certify Tai Yi teachers—its sole purpose is to train practitioners. There is no existing school for training Tai Yi teachers. Hossca Harrison is the only primary teacher, and teaching the practical application of Tai Yi to others is prohibited under the Student Confidentiality Agreement, which all students must sign. Violating this agreement results in expulsion. However, certified practitioners can apply Tai Yi on the general public and share philosophies with clients.

All students are required to sign this legal agreement upon enrollment. It prevents students from teaching the practical application of Tai Yi to others, ensuring the modality remains pure. It does not restrict practicing on clients or discussing treatment philosophies to help those you’re working with. The agreement protects against “watering down” the modality by adding personal beliefs or changes.

Hossca Harrison committed to his teacher to keep Tai Yi unaltered. The school expels any student who intentionally changes or pollutes exercises. This preserves Tai Yi’s original power amid modern influences that could dilute spiritual practices, foods, water, and minds.

Missed exercises or philosophies can be re-taught privately, but you cannot copy from other students. The school encourages positive discussions with peers but discourages reinforcing negative conditioning.
